Projects Implemented and Currently Under Implementation

Since its formation in 2017, Mbita Roadside Kiosk and Open Area Stall Owners CBO has implemented several grassroots projects aimed at empowering informal traders, promoting public welfare, and engaging with authorities on infrastructure and policy development. The CBO has consistently mobilized resources internally through its slogan "Naff Foundation", as well as presented project proposals to potential external donors.

1. Kombe Primary School Lunch Support Project (2022)

- Objective: To provide lunch meals to Class Eight candidates at Kombe Primary School during their final exams, ensuring they were well-nourished and focused during this critical period.

- Source of Funding: Internal fundraising through Naff Foundation by board and community members.

- Size of Funding: KES 12,000 (approx.)

- Duration: One-week support during the national exams in 2022.

- Area Covered: Kombe Primary School, Mbita Sub-County.

2. Member Welfare & Funeral Support

- Objective: To support CBO members and their families during times of need, such as bereavement, sickness, or emergencies.

- Source of Funding: Monthly contributions and emergency collections from CBO members.

- Size of Funding: Varies per case (typically KES 5,000–10,000 per event).

- Duration: Ongoing since 2017.

- Area Covered: Mbita Township and surrounding areas.

3. New Market for Members Advocacy Project

- Objective: To advocate for and support the construction of a new open-air market for members to operate in a clean, secure, and recognized environment.

- Source of Funding: Internally raised funds for transportation, coordination, and meetings with county officials; construction supported through government infrastructure programs.

- Size of Funding (CBO Contribution): KES 15,000 raised for transport and engagement.

- Duration: Advocacy and coordination from 2021–2023.

- Outcome: A new market space was secured and constructed following successful stakeholder engagement.

4. Ongoing: Physiotherapy Health Centre for the Elderly

- Objective: To construct a community physiotherapy and health center focused on elderly care and rehabilitation.

- Source of Funding: Proposal submitted to donors and active fundraising via online platform.

- Size of Requested Funding: Approx. USD 10,000.

- Duration: Ongoing (project proposal stage as of 2024–2025).

- Area Targeted: Mbita Town and surrounding villages with a large elderly population.
